Speech-Language Pathologist

Certified Educational Therapist

Amanda is a speech-language pathologist and certified educational therapist with extensive experience working with children for speech, language, and educational challenges. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating with a degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences. After graduation, she also completed her speech-language pathology assistant certification through the University of Colorado at Boulder, and began her career in the field of speech-language pathology. Throughout her career, Amanda has found working with children who have language-based learning disabilities and people who stutter to be her main areas of interest across the field of speech-language pathology. Supporting students with their academic needs is this passion that prompted her to continue her higher education through the University of California - Riverside, and was the catalyst for her becoming a certified educational therapist. Her continued passion for working with people who stutter played a major role in prompting Amanda to continue her higher education in the field of speech-language pathology. As a result and most recently, Amanda graduated with her master's degree in clinical speech-language pathology, with distinction, from Northern Arizona University.

In addition to her academic achievements, Amanda has also completed a 40-hour Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham continuing education in order to become better versed with this multi-sensory reading, writing, and spelling intervention. She is also registered through the International Dyslexia Association in order to allow her to stay up today with the most up to date research surrounding language-based learning disabilities. Other notable continuing education courses taken include Childhood Apraxia of Speech: The Kaufman K-SLP Methods and Behavioral Strategies to Build Successful Vocal Communication, as well as many courses through both the International Dyslexia Association and American Speech and Hearing Association national conferences. Currently, Amanda is also working to complete her ADHD Clinical Services Provider Certification in order to better serve the clients she sees who have executive functioning challenges and/or have an ADHD diagnosis. Since becoming a speech-language pathologist, Amanda has had the opportunity to supervise graduate clinicians and speech-language pathologist assistant students from various universities, including Emerson College, Metropolitan State University, Brescia University, and Chemeketa Community College.

Amanda has had the opportunity to work with children who have a wide range of speech, language, and educational challenges throughout her nearly fifteen year career, predominately in the private practice setting. During her time in this field, Amanda has found her areas of specialty to be providing intervention for people who stutter, children diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech,  and working with children diagnosed with a language-based learning disabilities. It is the underlying language foundation and basis of the language-based learning disabilities she works with, as well as the frequently co-occurring fluency disorders, that prompted Amanda to continue her higher education in speech-language pathology, versus educational therapy. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time outside, going to concerts, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her cat, Marcel.
